Terry Seeberger won a trial in Summit County in which he represented homeowners who were against the installation of an oil and gas well on their property. Terry prevented the oil company from drilling the well on our client’s property.

Jim Rench and Donald Scherer advised Summit Data Communications, Inc. in the $30 million sale of the business to London based Laird PLC. Stark & Knoll served as the sole legal advisor to Summit Data through the negotiations, due diligence and all other associated matters.

John Susany assisted multiple Stark & Knoll clients in obtaining exemption from real property taxes. In one case, Susany, through an appeal, convinced the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals that a hospice and half of a medical office building should be exempt. In another case, Susany successfully filed arguments, which led the Ohio Department of Taxation to find that a nursing home and assisted living facility should also be exempt.

Harry and Chris Tipping prevailed in litigation on behalf of a automobile dealership wherein the Plaintiff sought to invalidate the dealer’s documentary service charge in its motor vehicle transactions and certify a state-wide class
action. The Tippings’ obtained dismissal of the lawsuit in trial court, and this dismissal was affirmed in its entirety by the Eighth District Court of Appeals in a written opinion.

Tom Knoll, Jeff Knoll, Jim Rench and Donald Scherer, with the assistance of several other Stark & Knoll attorneys, assisted in the multimillion dollar sale of a large manufacturer of reprocessed rubber and polymers. The Company was owned by an Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP) and the stock sale resulted in substantial benefit to the employee/participants in the ESOP. Stark & Knoll attorneys assisted the company with all aspects of the negotiation and closing of the transaction, including the winding up of Stock Appreciation Rights Plans, Deferred Compensation Agreements and the ESOP.

Ralph Waszak assisted a longtime employee in acquiring the ownership of a local professional service company from its retiring owner.

Terry Seeberger assisted a regional paving and concrete and supplier in obtaining a $3 million dollar construction contract.

Jeff Knoll is advising a local real estate client with its acquisition, development and financing of property to be leased to A. Schulman, Inc. for its new corporate headquarters in Fairlawn.
